Pilot implementation of the "Sesame Street" program

On 09.10.2024, the first joint pilot event of the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and Sesame Street Workshop - "Sesame Street" was held in the "Little Prince" kindergarten in Plovdiv. The main objective of this innovative initiative is to develop a tool to collect feedback from kindergarten children about their participation in various activities.

The program aims to explore children's emotions and reactions in different situations, to encourage their creativity, to examine their concentration and perception of the information and instructions they receive. Special attention is paid to the emotional well-being of children. Everything happens in the form of games, conversations with the children, drawing, songs and dances.

52 children between the ages of 5 and 6 participated in the initiative. The presenters Steli Dzambazova - chairman of the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross, and Tolga Mehmedov transported them to magical worlds through exciting games. The Sesame Street creative workshop provided powerful joyful experiences for the children, engaging them in music, games and creating a doll from a ready-made pattern, which they brought to life by naming her, describing her favorite activities, her preferred clothes and what it looks like. The children also shared their experience of creating the doll.

During the event, 40 BMCHK volunteers from the South Central region observed a child of their choice and described his emotions - whether he was having fun, whether he was bored or bored, how he interacted with other children during activities and if he needed help. This feedback will be analyzed to improve the effectiveness of future programs and activities targeting kindergarten children.

This joint initiative by the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and Sesame Street Workshop demonstrates the two organizations' shared commitment to supporting children's development and promoting their emotional well-being through creative and fun methods.
