A team from Bulgaria took second place in a European competition on international humanitarian and refugee law

Between November 15 and 18, a team from the Faculty of Law of Sofia University represented the school in the seventh edition of the European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Competition, which took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The participants were the students Yoanna Chenalova, Kalina Slavova and Yana Obreshkova, who performed brilliantly at the final of the competition, ranking second among teams from prestigious universities in Europe. The coach of the team was Maria Zhelyazkova, a student and volunteer of BMCHK-Stara Zagora. 

The competition takes place in several phases, and the participants are expected to demonstrate skills in conducting peaceful negotiations and mock trials, pleading with specialists from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Criminal Court.
